Tough But Necessary Day

It has been a dark and gloomy day today, as such, I decided to start gathering up Jennifer’s clothes to donate. I have been waiting to do that activity for a day like today. I have decided I am going to donate the majority of her clothing to Safe Nest (program for abused women). I feel that would be what she would want me to do.
Not exactly a fun activity and it was tough because there were items that I know she liked and enjoyed wearing and those would choke me up a little. Then there were others that she was not as pleased with. She even had a few that still had the sales tags on them.
Anyway it is time I dealt with this and start getting them to someone who needs or will use them. They are just collecting dust and that is stupid. I probably could sell some of these, but I just don’t have the heart or desire to go through that process for these items. I will do that with her collection of purses when I get to that point.
Unfortunately I got some sad news from Butte today. My good friend CD Holter lost his father last night. I feel sad for all of the Holter and Sanford families.
I owe a lot to both of CD’s parents. During grade school, junior high and high school I spent a lot of time after sport practices at his house until my Dad would pick me up after work. His Mom was always feeding me cookies, cake and/or meals. They also always cheered me on during all of my sporting activities.
CD’s mom Barbara had terrible rheumatoid arthritis, but she never complained about it. She was such a kind and funny lady. She passed away several years ago. CD’s Dad Tom was an ironworker on the hill. Actually my Dad worked with CD’s dad for a short period of time on the rope gang on the hill. The rope gang worked on all the wire ropes/cables and on the Gallus frames of the underground mines. When we were in high school Tom was damn near killed in a accident at the mine. They were moving a large tank with a Crane and Tom was on top of the tank and the rigging failed and he was thrown from the tank. He was damn lucky to have lived through that.
I was fortunate enough to visit him at his home one day this summer and am glad for that. He and my Aunt Betty were the same age and went to grade school together.
I feel sad for CD. He is a lifelong diehard Chicago Bears fan. So he has had a shitty week. First the former Bears coach Mike Ditka dies, then his Dad passes and then to top it off the Bears get beat by the Green Bay Packers. So all in all a shitty week. They say this stuff comes in threes, so hopefully he is done for a bit.
So far we have not gotten the amount of rain they were forecasting. However, we still have a couple of days were it might rain. In Montana they ended up I getting snow. They were in the high 70’s on Friday and some areas have 13 inches of snow today. I talked to my Mom last night and she said they had some crazy winds and horizontal snow yesterday afternoon. Their snow fall was only a inch or two, but it is precipitation so that is good.
Well enough for today.
