The Accountant

I forgot another movie that Jennifer liked to watch. “The Accountant” was another movie she liked to watch whenever it came on. We both liked that movie. Last night I caught about the last 30 minutes of the movie. Ben Affleck did a good job of acting in that movie. His portrayal of autism is interesting. I think she liked when he gave the gal the Jackson Pollack painting at the end of the movie.

Yesterday was a cool morning here in Elk Park. We had 26 degrees and a pretty decent frost. I had to wait until about 9:30 am until I could turn on the hoses to water the yard. The hoses were pretty stiff and full of ice. Today is pretty much the same, although the frost is not as heavy.

Elaine, Jim and I went golfing yesterday afternoon at the Anaconda Country Club. It is only a 9 hole course but it sure is pretty little course in Opportunity, MT. It has a little creek “mill creek” that runs through the course and it just is a fun little track to play. The man who runs the course is such a nice guy. It is not fancy but it sure is a nice laid back place to play golf.

Jeanne and Rob celebrated their 42 wedding anniversary yesterday. Jennifer always said it was easy to remember their anniversary because the were married on 8/4/84. She was a bridesmaid in the wedding and the reception was held at her Aunt Helen’s house. Jennifer had attended a cheerleading camp just before the wedding and she was pretty tired and had sunburned her feet during the camp. Below is a picture of her celebrating at the reception. Mom and Dad are blessed with such good neighbors. Last night their neighbor Dick Lyons and his family came over with a telescoping lift that he has to help us get started on a project that we are going to hopefully finish this weekend.

This project is one that Dad would not be very happy about. It is removing the gate posts that were in place as you pull into their front yard. It was something he really liked, but unfortunately time had taken its toll and the posts had rotted and were in danger of falling. This gate had been hit by someone during the auction we had a couple of years ago and that hastened the issue some. Then the garbage truck also hit the post which even did more damage. We had crudely put in some braces to keep the damn thing up and appease him. However the time has come that we need to take it down and make some repairs. We are not going to go back with the same design. This is for several reasons. The main being not having adequate materials and equipment to put it back and secondly the design can be a hamper to getting tall equipment into/out of the yard.

Dad would not be happy about that, he would have wanted something very similar to what he had put in, but it just isn’t going to happen. So he will be cursing us up from Heaven. Hopefully Jennifer can talk some sense into him, but I doubt it.

Anyway we got one of the toughest parts of the project done last night thanks to Dick bringing down his lift and getting the sign down and the cross post removed. Fortunately all that happened without any major train wrecks. Cindy had made the steel sign for Dad several years ago and it is pretty damn heavy. This weekend we will be working on getting the vertical posts removed and the fencing repaired to make it look nicer.

Chad and Cindy are coming over tomorrow evening and this is just one of the larger projects we are going to tackle. It will be a busy weekend. It is supposed to be pretty warm, that is probably because the old boy will be fuming in heaven. He will just have to get over it.
