Rain!

Hallelujah we are getting some much needed rain! It will likely not be enough to end the fire conditions but it will certainly give fire crews a chance to get things hopefully under control.

Yesterday afternoon Elaine, Jim and I were able to play 9 holes on the regulation course at the Highland View Golf Course. It was Elaine’s first time playing the regulation course. She did great and hopefully we will play it some more next summer. Elaine and Jim are going to head back to Vegas tomorrow.

We just made it in to the clubhouse before the rain started to show up. I hit a couple of really strong bands of rain on the drive home. The strongest rain I have ever seen in Elk Park. It was on par with some of the rains I saw in Louisiana. With Sturgis bike rally going on there are lots of motor bikes streaming through some heading to Glacier and some heading to Yellowstone and Sturgis. Well there was a bunch under the overpass at the exit digging out the rain gear from their saddle bags.

Fortunately I made the decision to cut the grass on Wednesday. I almost procrastinated and was going to cut it today. However, for once I made a good choice. I would never had got it cut today with this much needed rain.

Yesterday morning we lost power for a couple of hours in the morning. No idea what happened, but it put a damper on getting much done around here yesterday.

Today is the start of the An Ri Ra Irish music festival. This rain will put a hamper on it. That is a shame because a lot of people work their butts off to plan, organize and set up the festival. However this rain is so needed. Maybe they will catch a break and it will let up this evening.

Lydia and Teddy are both scheduled to dance this evening and again tomorrow. The both are part of the Irish Dance group here in Butte. Jennifer and I were able to watch Lydia several times when she was little. Jennifer would have so enjoyed watching her these last couple of years and especially this year because she has progressed up into the prettier and more colorful dresses. Lydia reminds me a lot of Jennifer.

We got some bad news Tuesday that a old family friend John Jaksha passed away suddenly. John’s health has not been good for a while, but he had been soldiering on and was actually given a clean bill of health during a checkup by the VA just recently. Anyway he appeared to have a heart attack at home on Tuesday morning. John and his wife Sandy lived across the street from my Aunt Betty and Uncle George. When I was young I used to play with their sons John and Steve when I was at my Aunt Betty’s. Sandy and mom have become close friends over the years. They are in the same boat now. John and Sandy came out for Mom’s Birthday party, that was the last time I got to see John. He was always a upbeat jovial guy. We will miss him. His services are next week.

Well I better get doing something productive, before I need to head to town for the festival, so enough for today.
