Fun Birthday Party

Yesterday was our great niece Lydia’s 15th Birthday. Kate and Sam had a nice party for her at Pat’s house. It was a fun family gathering that Jennifer would have loved so much. Jeanne and Rob came and it was an absolute beautiful evening except for the smoke and it fortunately was not too bad.
I had a busy morning. I cooked some breakfast for Chad and the boys before they headed back to East Helena. Cindy had went home the night before to attend the wedding reception of a former student that she had been invited to. She went because this kid did not have much immediate family. She was glad she did, because he teared up when he saw her come in to the reception.
Just as Chad and the boys were pulling out of the yard, a family friends daughter pulled into the yard with a empty trailer. She was coming to get some hay out of the barn for her horses. With all this dry weather hay crops are not great. So Mom had contacted her to tell her to come get some hay out of the barn. We have a bunch and nothing to feed it to, so someone should make use of it. I helped them get the trailer loaded and then headed to town to meet up with Elaine and Jim. I will be honest I don’t miss the days of picking/handling hay bales.
I had a nice afternoon with Jim and Elaine. We went and played 9 holes of golf and then went to lunch at Arby’s. I think that was the first time I had been to Arby’s since Jennifer had passed (she liked Arby’s). Then we went back to Elaine and Jim’s townhouse they are renting for their stay up here and had a nice visit. Then we went to the party. So it was a nice day.
Kate had made a delicious cake for the party it was chocolate cake that has Guinness beer in it. It was delicious. Very rich but delicious. She sent home a big slice for Mom and Colleen to have. They loved it as well. We had pasties that Pat and Lydia’s brother Teddy had made. Jennifer’s brother Dave like to have green chili’s in pasties. Pat had made some of those in his memory. They were delicious.
Both Ted and Lydia have pretty severe food allergies. However, Lydia has outgrown several of hers and Ted is on a new medicine that are helping lessen some of his. Both kids are pretty sharp cookies, so will be interesting to watch them grow up. Jennifer would have so enjoyed everything. I know this sounds crazy but I had a conversation with her about my day in my head on the ride home.
Tomorrow is another busy day. Jim and I are going over to Fairmont Hotsprings to play golf. I had bought a round for two players with carts at the recent Chloe Worl scholarship fund that was a silent auction item. So I want to get that used before the summer is over. I have not played there for several years, so looking forward to that.
Wednesday will be a tough day as that will be our 37th wedding anniversary but I will get through it. I got no choice. I can’t change the situation, just need to gut my way through it.
Well enough for today.
