I have not had a opportunity to post for several days. I have been pretty busy.
I attended part of the An Ri Ra Irish music festival and got to see both Lydia and Teddy dance on the opening night of the festival. Unfortunately a lightning storm showed up just as they were about to take the stage so they pivoted and performed in the Old St Mary’s church across the street from the Original Mine Yard where they were supposed to perform. It was very crowded inside the church and they did not have all of the audio equipment and the kids did abbreviated routines. However, we did get to see them dance. They did good. Lydia has progressed up into the “real pretty/colorful dress” group and she had a beautiful purple and green dress. They both did good. Teddy takes it pretty serious and you could see he was really concentrating on his dancing.
Elaine and Jim headed back to Vegas on Saturday and made it home safely. The kids danced again on Saturday morning, but I was not able to catch that performance because I had committed to golf with a old high school classmate and friend. We had a fun outing and was nice to catch up. We try to do that annually but had missed the last two years, but we got it in this year.
We attended our friend John Jaksha’s funeral and luncheon at St Ann’s. It was a very nice service. Unfortunately we will be attending another funeral service there on Monday. Our neighbor’s brother passed away. Our neighbors nephew Ron (his father is who passed) was a classmate of Jennifer’s and mine. I have not seen Ron in a long time. So will be nice to see him, just wish it was on better circumstances.
It is always a little painful going to St Ann’s, lots of good but also lots of painful memories in that church. Jennifer and I had lots of life events in that church. She was the first baby baptized in that building. We were married in that building. We also had her and Dad’s memorials service there. As well as many other family members services there. However, I can’t change any of that but I just go in and soldier thru the services.
I traveled over to Missoula and played golf in a cancer charity tournament with my financial advisor and guy that was in my high school class but he was at Butte High. We also had the wife of one of the financial advisors team play with us. Thank god we did, she carried us on her back pretty much the whole round. She played Collegiate golf for the University of Montana and is in the final year of becoming a physical therapist. Our group ended up in fourth place, we shot a 61. She was apologetic because she was fighting jet lag. She had just gotten home from her 12 day honeymoon in Sicily. She could really hit the ball. She won the Women’s long drive hole. All in all it was a fun day.
Thursday I played Pickleball and then went to Butte Rotary club meeting with Kelli Eddy. Kelli is going to join the club and will be a great addition. Thursday evening I went to dinner with my good friend Geoff Gallus and then we went to watch/listen to my good friend C.D. Holter’s band “Slovie’s Love” play at Music on Main Street. They put on a good show.
On Friday, Colleen, Cindy, Chad, Case and I traveled up to Great Falls, MT to attend a 90th Birthday party for our Great Aunt Betty Crowe at her home. Heath stayed home because he had his second soccer practice of the day to attend. Mom would have really liked to have joined us. However, my Aunt Betty’s house has a ton of steps and it just was not something she could navigate. So we took a bunch of pictures so she could see the people who were there. There were a couple of Mom’s cousins in attendance that she had not seen in years. It was a very nice party and my cousin Laura had made a whole bunch of tasty cup cakes.
When we got home I cut the grass. I will definitely be going home and kissing my zero landscaped yard. It takes about a hour to cut Mom’s yard and that is on a riding lawnmower.
Today is Cindy’s birthday so we will be going over to East Helena this morning and having a lunch out somewhere. Thankfully it looks like it is going to be a nice day.
Well I better get moving and start getting things ready to head to East Helena.
