Sweating and Laughing.

Last evening Colleen and I attended the Henry Cho comedy show at the Motherlode Theatre. It was a nice show and we had some good laughs. It was pretty toasty in the theatre though. Thankfully Colleen had some dollar store foldable paper fans that she brought and that made it bearable. So we got a workout and few laughs in at the same time. Because we were fanning away the whole time we were in there. When the show was over, it had rained outside and it was ecsasty reaching that front door.

The best part was the couple behind us, thanking us for bringing the fans as we had kept them cooled off as well. At first I thought he was joking, he was not. He was as serious as a heart attack. If I was quicker on that draw I should have told him that he owed me $5 for the service and that tips were appreciated.

Before the doors opened. We went to the Headframe Distillery and had a couple of cocktails. My favorite cocktail is no longer on their published drink menu, but I asked the gal that was our server if they had all the ingredients for it. She said they did (she has been working there for quite a while, so I knew she would know). Jennifer and I both liked the cocktail (which is unusual that we liked the same thing). It is called the Anaconda Road. It is a very refreshing summer drink. The funny thing is that it has ginger in it. It has Ginger ale, a strawberry ginger simple syrup and pineapple juice and their Kelly whiskey in it. Jennifer was very selective on what she liked ginger in. Cookies and boozy drinks she liked it. Chinese dishes not at all. She would surgically remove minced ginger from any food that had it in it.

Jennifer like Henry Cho and would have enjoyed last night’s show. She always got a kick out of his southern drawl coming out of a little Korean guy. He is actually a member of the Grand Ole Opry. He talked a little bit about that last night. He said he is very honored to be inducted into the Opry but that it was never a lifelong dream to be inducted. He said that was because he could never even dream of that.

Henry is obviously no dummy he was obviously doing the shows to write off his golfing/fishing trip on his taxes to Montana. He said he had been over in Hamilton golfing and fishing for a few days and was doing a show tonight in Missoula. So more power to him. He must be a good golfer he said he was shooting in the 70’s. He said he only works a couple hours a week, so he has a lot of time to golf on his hands.

He did a Q&A session towards the end of the show. It just demonstrated that there are dumb people everywhere. Some of the questions he was asked were just plain idiotic. He also took requests to do some of his older material. His Home Depot bit on trying to buy Chinking for a log cabin is a classic.

There was a upcoming comedian that opened for him. He was also pretty funny. He was a fella that like me was on the huskier side. He said he was a plumber for 25 years before he broke into comedy. So needless to say he had to throw in some plumber crack jokes.

Anyway it was a nice evening.

This morning the photo below popped up on my Facebook Feed. This photo was taken by Jennifer and was funny at the time because Dad’s dog Jake photobombed us in the photo.

However when I saw this this morning it just made me feel old. I realized I am the only thing in the photo that is still around. Jennifer, Jake, Dad and even the hay baler are all gone. I just pray that they are all in Heaven having a hell of a good time. This photo was taken in 2019. That was a great summer! This was at the end of haying season as we were cleaning out the bale chamber on the hay baler.

Well enough for today. I better to go do something productive.
