Entire State

Last night Colleen, Cindy, Chad and Boys and myself went to the Tim Montana concert in Helena at the Lewis and Clark Stampede and Fair. Daughtry was the headliner for the Concert, but we all felt Tim was a better show. No offense to Daughtry but we are a little partial to our fellow Elk Park Boy.

We went a bit early because Cindy said last year the traffic getting into the fair grounds was terrible and several people ended up missing the show because they were stuck in traffic. Anyway, that was not the case this year. So we had a fair bit of time to wander around the fair grounds, although they were still busy getting the livestock exhibits set up. Kids were still hauling in their animals and getting them set up in their pens.

We were early enough that we got in where the performers rigs were before the security people got set up. So we were able to have a nice visit with Tim and some of his family after they had done their sound check. It was interesting that Tim had never performed in Helena until last night. He has performed all over the state, but never in Helena. We he put on a good show last night.

Tim has a new album coming out on July 31. It is titled Entire State of Tim Montana. There is a song off the album that has been released called Long, Long, Year. I really like it. If you get a chance log on to Apple ITunes and give it a listen.

He also performed a couple of other songs off the album. One is a collaboration with a couple of gentleman from the Crow Indian tribe. Tim has built a strong relationship with several of the tribes in the state and is trying to help them build awareness of their tribal music and culture.

Over the years, Tim’s music has changed from more Country western to more of a harder rock and it has been interesting to observe over the past 20-25 years. Jennifer really liked his song “Hillbilly Rich”. We saw him play in San Antonio and he thankfully closed that show with it. Jennifer was getting nervous that he was not going to play that song.

Tim has logged thousands of miles traveling around the country and world performing. He was so kind to come and visit Dad and hold his hand for a couple of hours after just getting back to Butte from a long road trip. He also put a very nice post on Facebook after Dad passed.

His Mom and step-dad have been so good to my folks, and we greatly appreciate that. They are just flat out good people.

Tim has also bought and runs the Wise River Club in Wise River Montana. He has really brought new life to it and is tirelessly out there promoting it as well. The thing I have always admired about Tim is that he is always out there hustling and has earned all of the success he has had. No body gave him anything, he has gone out and earned it. True embodiment of the American way.

The boys were excited to see Tim and get a photo and their hats signed by him.

All in all it was a nice night and nice to see a fellow Elk Park doing good. A little Smokey but still a nice night.
