Today was a tough but fruitful day. Fortunately, my in-laws Jim and Elaine Benner made it to town to go to the Mortuary with me to work thru the start of planning. Our special friend Margot Centanni was going to go with me if they could not make it (Thank you Margot).
We picked out an Urn that we feel that Jennifer would have liked and that will fit in the purse that she wants to be buried in.
Elaine, Jim, and I also got to see her one last time, which was very special/important for me, and I know will have made Jennifer very happy that they could see her one last time. I just wish all of our family could have gotten that opportunity but unfortunately that just was not possible.
Those of you who knew Jennifer well know that she was a strong yellow on the Birkman chart. She was a team builder, planner and a list builder, as such, we had been working down the list of things, she felt we needed to get covered before she left. One thing on that list was writing her obituary. Jennifer wrote her own obituary. The only thing she left to me was to fill in the family members. She had written everything else. It is now posted on the mortuary website in the link below.
Jennifer in her usual humble way did not espouse on all of her accomplishments and strengths, it is pretty straight forward. I honored her wishes by not adding any additional details or flowery words. I could write a book on that.
I still have a couple of things to firm up so I can't share all of the arrangement details just yet. We will have a small memorial service here in Mesquite and then will have a full memorial service and internment in Butte. Will post the details as soon as I have them.
Thank you to all who have reached out to me and that have checked on me. I am hanging in there and like the Willie Nelson song "Something You Get Through" our good friend Eddie Hill sang and posted on his Facebook account. I will not get over this, but I will get through it. Thanks Eddie, that was special and resonated with me.
