Yesterday morning was rainy in Southern Nevada. Everyone was a little tired so we just lounged around the house for a bit, then Caron and Ryan took Dwight, Jake and Kelden to Green Valley Ranch Casino so they could do a little gambling. Jake and Kelden had never been to a casino yet. Kelden does a little bit of online sport betting but had not been to a actual sports book in a casino to make bets live. So Aunt Caron and Uncle Ryan took them and they are no longer Casino Virgins.
The rest of us stayed at the house and we played a game of Farkle and a couple of games of Desktop Derby which a new horse racing game that Jim and Elaine had bought. It uses both cards and dice and is a pretty fun game.
Before the group left for the Casino we decided we would go bowling when they got back. From the report we got when the newly minted gamblers got back to the house. Kelden did win $80 on a slot machine, Jake paid to keep the lights of the Casino on. Also Kelden and Dwight made some bets on the football games at the sport book. They both bet on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers so they also lined the pockets of the Casino. So they all learned how Casino's can have all the flashy lights and give out free and/or cheap booze. Welcome to Nevada Boys!
When they got back we headed to the local Bowling Alley to do a little bowling. The Bowling alley in Boulder City is a 77 year old alley and only has 8 lanes. It was a cute little alley and had antique equipment we had not seen before. The pins were on cables instead of free floating and the ball return machines were antiques. They operated on gravity alone. We did have one little hick up, with the ball return equipment and did get a little lesson about bowling from the owner about them.
When the equipment was new the lightest bowling ball was 12 pounds. However there are now lighter balls and sometime those lighter balls won't make it up fully up the ramp. So Lilly and Bode were bowling with 7 lb balls. And one time their ball did not make it up the ramp of the machine with enough force to get over the equipment brake and rolled back down ramp to the back of the lane. So one of the owners had to come out and get the ball back for us. She then explained why it happened to us.
Anyway everyone had a good time bowling and it was a fun little outing. I then took off for home from the Alley. They were all heading back to the house for Pizza and football watching.
It was a very nice weekend and it was good to see all of the Benner clan together. I was able to give the ladies the jewelry that Jennifer wanted them to have so they could carry it home with them and not have to worry about it getting lost in the mail. Something I did not think I would ever be doing, but glad I got to do it in person.
Well I better get a move on. I have my annual eye exam in St. George at 9:15 this morning, which means I better get moving.
