A Day of Celebration

Yesterday was a day of celebration. We celebrated the life of my Aunt Betty Krstulich and we celebrated the birthday of my sister-in-law Jeanne and then last night we celebrated the start of our country’s Independence Day celebrations by watching the fire works show from the Big M.
So lots of celebrating.
The service for Aunt Betty’s was very nice and I think she would have been happy. It was very nice that Paul Eddy brought my grandfathers old Studebaker Hawk that he has had restored down to the service.

Paul and his wife Kelly also had made a case of white wine bottles with Aunt Betty’s photo on them, and everyone (who wanted) could have a little wine to celebrate at the luncheon after the service. That was very nice and appropriate as Aunt Betty did like to have some wine at these type of events.
We had a little bit of a challenge on Jeanne’s birthday luncheon. The first restaurant that we planned to go to was closed, the second one we intended to go to was closing at 2:00 pm (We got there at 1:20). So we ended up going to Dickey’s BBQ, not exactly what we had in mind, but it worked and everyone enjoyed their meals. This was a big day for Jeanne as it was her first (outside the house) meal since her stroke last November. It always seems like Jeanne’s birthday lunch has some kind of issue. Three years ago we got in the restaurant and the power went out so we did not get to have lunch.
After lunch we went back to Jeanne and Rob’s house and had birthday cake. Jeanne was able to finish her piece of cake with lots of chocolate frosting. So all in all a very good celebration. She has come a long damn ways from last November!
Today we are going to the Butte parade. According to the radio, it is going to be one of the largest they have had in quite some time (120 entrants). Well I better get a move on it as I need to help get the folks ready and loaded into the van and into town.
Happy 4th of July to everyone. I hope everyone has a safe and happy day.
