It has been a busy week. I was fortunate enough this week to win in a raffle ticket drawing a Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ Smoker/Grill and a Prep and Storage Cart from the Mesquite Women’s Warrior group. I never win in raffles, so I was quite shocked. So winner, winner chicken dinner or at least it will be when I get it all assembled. Usually I just donate in these raffles. Jennifer always would tell me I was lucky in love but not in raffles.
Now I am BBQ rich and patio poor. Don’t get me wrong I have a nice little patio, but I will now have three BBQ’s on it. I have my Big Green Egg, a small propane grill that Jennifer and I purchased off of Facebook Market place shortly after we got to Mesquite and now this baby.
I have wanted a pellet grill for quite a while, I just never pulled the trigger on getting one, well that is over now. Thankfully I know the folks that are key players in the Women Warrior group and they were able to haul these two large boxes to my house for me. The grill box weighs about 240 lbs. It is times like these that I really miss having my truck down here. Once the temps here in Mesquite get a little lower, I will start working on putting all of this together.
I have a lot of folks waiting for a invitation to that chicken dinner.

Last night there was the inaugural Mesquite First Friday Family Art Walk down at the complex where our Rotary Room is located. We opened up our Rotary Room and held a used book sale while the event was going on. We actually sold $118.00 worth of books. We sell the books for $1 a piece. So that was great. Our club normally has book sales on Tuesday’s and Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm. We have been wanting to have a book sale in the evenings so people who work or have other commitments could come to the sale, but it was hard to get people to come just for that. However since they were down to check out the Art Walk, they came on in to our room to check it out. So it was great from that standpoint and also great advertising for our regular book sale days. So it was a good evening. Jennifer would have enjoyed the night. She like helping with the book sale, which she did with me regularly.
This week I actually went to a movie. I like movies and I went to see the “Downton Abbey The Grand Finale” movie. I was a late comer to watching the Downton Abbey series. I watched it during Covid. I really liked the series and the actors that were in the series. The vast majority of them were back for this supposed last movie. It is one of those movies that you have had to watched the series or you would be lost about the plot and not get the full value of the movie. I thought it was good and almost brought a tear to my eye.
I also got some golf, pickleball, bocce, billards and bowling in this last week. So a fun week.
Well I better get a move on. I need to do some house work before I head out to the weekly Golf putting tournament and so I can watch my nephew Heath play soccer online and then some College Football this afternoon.
