Sisters

One thing Jennifer very much cherished was her relationship with her sisters. While each was different, they all were equally important to her.

Jennifer’s sister Janice and brother in law Kenn came up to Butte this week, to see all of us. Jennifer would have been so happy and would have so enjoyed this week. There would have been a lot of memories relived and stories retold. It is just so very hard to believe she is not here.

When Janice and Kenn got to town, all of us met up at Silver Bow pizza. Jennifer would have liked that, it was kind of a tradition to always go there at least once. Unfortunately, it was probably not the best choice of venue for this trip. It was very noisy in there, so it was hard for any of us to converse, but especially hard for Jeanne.

Sadly the pizza (at least in my opinion) has fallen off. I ordered Jennifer’s favorite pizza (Canadian Bacon with Black olives) and it was very bland. I think they have changed their sauce and the quality of the cheese they are using. I am betting even Jennifer (the Queen of plain and well done) would have thought it was bland. Thankfully the salad bar is still decent, although even that is a shadow of its former self. The prices have also raised substantially.

The Silver Bow pizza has certainly transformed over the years. It was originally the Village Inn Pizza and was much smaller than its current version. There was a couple of changes made during the Village Inn era. One time they added a animatronic band that would play tunes. It was kind of weird thing but was a big hit for a short while. Then when it became the Silver Bow they did a remodel and eventually expanded the building and put in a arcade and got rid of the weird band.

More Importantly they added a second bathroom. The original building had two of the smallest bathrooms I had ever seen in a business. They are still there but they finally put in decent sized ones when they added on to the building.

It stayed that way for a short while, then they added a small adult arcade (casino) section back by the kids arcade.

It stayed that way for probably 20 years or more. The owners never really put a dime into the joint for a long time. The funny thing was even during the Village Inn to Silver Bow transition they never changed the decor above the fake white brick fire place. There was a picture of a palamino horse above the fire place for a very long time. Then about 5-6 years ago they finally did another overall and remodel and they finally changed the place up quite a bit. Sadly that is when the quality of the food also started dropping off and the Palomino rode off into the sunset. He was replaced by a picture of a Scottish highlands cow.

It is always interesting how businesses transform/change over the years. Obviously sometimes it is for the better and sometimes it is not. The current version of the Silver Bow will (in my opinion) need to change/improve or they may not be in business long and another landmark from our youth will be gone. I forgot to mention that there were not very many people in there so that also says something. The place would usually be pretty packed.

Oh well life goes on!
