Punch In The Gut

For whatever reason, today I was getting dressed and ready to face the day. On one of the walls in our bedroom there is a collage of pictures of Jennifer and I from our wedding. I just happened to look at the picture and it just felt like someone punched me in the gut. I got a little teary and reflected back on that day, I can distinctly remember posing and taking the photo of us kissing, like it was yesterday. It was a very good day and I was very happy to finally have the wedding behind us.
Why I got that feeling today I don’t know. But it really took my breath away, maybe it was because I was standing on the spot where I did CPR on her and where she laid until they confirmed she was gone. I just don’t know, but it sure did suck and hope I don’t have that repeat. I will continue to look at that photo, but hope to not have a repeat.
Below is the photo.

Monday I drove up to St George for my annual eye exam. Let me tell you St Patty’s day is not a big holiday there. Hardly anyone had any green on. I did visit a good Taco place that Margot and Allen had recommended for lunch. Before my appointment I had made a quick trip to Costco for gas and then came home.
I still had a pie left from Saturdays party, so I invited a couple guys down for pie. One of the guys had also lost his wife, so we commiserated about our new life’s without our spouses. In a weird way I think it was good for both of us. We did have a few Irish whiskey’s while we were visiting so that probably didn’t hurt either.
Now I am working on the family NCAA basketball bracket contest. This was something Jennifer decided we should do for something fun in 2023. Her brother Mike won the first year, our nephew Conor’s girlfriend/significant other won last year. I intend to continue to do it as long as I am breathing and as long as family members will participate. We have some interesting brackets and real diversity (dare I say that word without ending up on a watch list) in this years bracket submit tall.
There are a couple that have real long shots winning the whole thing. If these folks win, they can probably get the school to put up a statue of them on that campus, because I am pretty sure not even the Alumni of these institutions are picking them to win the national championship. However you never know, that is why it is called March Madness.
Well enough for today.
