Never Out Of My Mind

This last week was a very busy week. However, that being said , Jennifer was never out of my mind.
My Rotary Club had its annual Mudd Volleyball tournament yesterday. It was a success. We had a very nice and large crowd of people who came out to play and to watch the muddy chaos. This year we had a large group of high school kids participate, which was good to see. It was funny watching the progression of these kids as the day went on. Several of them were very apprehensive about getting wet and muddy. They went to great effort or maybe lack of effort to try and keep from getting muddy. However, it just is not possible. As the day went on they got braver and braver and most of them went home very very muddy.
I did all kinds of different types of work the past couple of days. I also came home a lot muddier than I was expecting to. I got muddy being a line judge and referee for several of the matches. I was not even close to being in the same league as most of the people who actually played. Let’s just say Mesquite’s waste water treatment plant is probably noticing a large increase in the amount of sand and mud in their system today. Hell after I took my shower, I had to take a little extra time to clean my shower.
Like I said Jennifer was never out of my mind. As I was driving over to the Eureka Casino (site of the tournament), I had the radio on and Meatloaf came on. I have mentioned before Jennifer loved Meatloaf. Immediately all I could think that it was a sign she was there with me. It was both comforting but also took the breath out of me.
When I got home I was spent and after I took and cleaned my shower and put my muddy clothes in the washer I pretty much collapsed and shut down for the evening. I called the folks and watched most of the Grizzly football game but dozed off in the second half.
So it was a good busy week. I was very pleased to have Jim and Elaine come visit for a day and we had a nice dinner with our mutual friend Sheri. This week will also be busy, but more with fun activities like Bocce, Golf and Pickleball. I am looking forward to that.
Well I need to run down to the Rotary Room and do a little cleanup before all the fun stuff begins. So I better get a move on.
