Little Triggers, Big Memories

It is funny how silly little things can trigger memories. This morning I woke up early and could not go back to sleep, so I figured I would get up and do something productive. So I started a load of laundry and cleaned out my refrigerator because it was trash day. So the wash finished and I went to put some of it in dryer and hang several other things to dry.

As I was cleaning out the lint tray on the dryer there were a couple of blades of grass in it and for some reason that triggered the memory of the little bird that got into our house in February 2021 and the whole debaucle that entailed after that. I believe I have written about that so I won’t regale you with that story again. I started by chuckling as I relived that memory, but I then I started crying because I also realized that I don’t get to make any more of those memories with her.

Why did a couple of little pieces of grass in a dryer vent trigger that particular memory. I have no fricking idea, but it was a nice little trip down memory lane.

Well I did not get this posted yesterday, because I had a very busy day. I had bocce early, followed by bowling (I am not sure you can call what I did bowling), then I went and played a couple games of Pickleball, but had to leave that early to get ready for a high school scholarship fundraiser.

It was a nice little event hosted by the Mesquite Community Education Foundation. The theme was “Back to the Good Old Days” and 1950’s related. The high school choir performed a couple of songs and then a local ladies choir performed some songs. Then the high school jazz band performed. They had a bunch of nice raffle items to give away and those were raffles off to end the evening.

They had smaller round tables set up around the room, the tables would only sit six people. Dorothy and Andy attended as did Linda and Ron from our bocce group were also there so we all sat together. Linda won a new crock pot during the raffle, but she was the only one to win. They had a bunch of nice golf packages they raffled off. I pretty much put all of my tickets in those raffles and did not win. Oh well at least the money went to a good cause.

Several members of my Rotary club were also present and Deb our club President won a raffle basket.

So it was a very busy day.

The circus in Washington continues. This whole text debaucle is just unreal. Of course that is dominating the news. This is in my opinion is a smoke screen to take focus off the dismantling of our various government agencies. The press is taking the bait hook, line and sinker.

The Republicans wanted to crucify Hillary Clinton for using her personal computer for e-mail communications. Now their guy is not using the secured systems they should be using to discuss classified military operations against terrorists and somehow included a journalist in those communications. It is interesting and sickening how the Republicans tune has changed. They are making all kinds of excuses and trying to justify the behavior and also of course using their “stock” tactic of saying it is a political conspiracy attack on poor old Trump and of course doubling down on denying that this happened.

Just flat out embarrassing and disgusting. God help us all!
