Interesting Day

Yesterday was a interesting day. Before I get into that. There was some good news yesterday. Jeanne got to go home from the hospital. She ended up needing to stay a little longer as they had some issues with her feeding tube. However Rob said she was having some pretty bad pain from getting her moved home. So please keep the prayers going to hopefully get her on the road to recovery and that her pain subsides quickly.
Yesterday we had Bocce, unfortunately my team went 0-3, but all of the games were tight. 1-2 points different. I was teamed with Andy and 2 folks who have not played much. So needless to say Andy’s back had to be sore at the end of play, because he was carrying the team being the Mesquite Nevada Bocce Gold Medal winner.
Then a group of us went bowling. Before bowling I ran a few errands. I stopped at Walmart to pick up a frozen Turkey to donate to a Turkey drive the owner of the small cafe at the Library is running. He started this drive after his partner passed away a couple of years ago and he is a supporter of our Rotary Club. So wanted to support his efforts.
Then I went and got a haircut, then I went to bowling. I was a little early so I scanned my players club card and won a free hot dog. So I ate my hot dog in the bowling alley and watched some of the other bowlers bowl until the rest of the group showed up.
I will be honest that at one point I got a little teary and a little jealous. There was a little old couple who was in there bowling. This was not the first time I have seen them, but first time I really watched them. Only the wife was bowling, the husband is on a Walker and must be no longer able to bowl. Anyway they both had a Scotch and soda and she was bowling. You could tell she was enjoying herself as she had a big grin on her face pretty much the whole time. She was as slow as molasses in January but she was having a grand time.
Anyway watching them got me teary and jealous at the same time. I thought to myself that could have been Jennifer and I and I would have hoped it was us. Anyway they finished up and shuffled out of the alley. I will be honest I was a little concerned about them driving which I would have been even without a Scotch and soda in them. But more power to them for getting out and doing things they enjoy while they can.
After bowling I went and donated a few Pennie’s in the slot machine as I had a couple of hours to kill before I went to the Library to attend a Cancer Support Group meeting that the Mesquite Women Warriors were holding.
This group was started by a group of women who are Breast cancer survivors or as one of the other attendees stated are success stories. This group has a cancer walk in March that they hope to make a annual event (last year was the first year). They have gotten a 501(c)3 status and are working to help support individuals and families fighting cancer. Anyway one of the founders is a friend and she asked me to attend the meeting they had last night as they brainstorm and try and develop peer support group(s).
Elaine, Jim and I and several friends all walked in their inaugural March last year and I hope to do the same this year.
Anyway it was a interesting day and I bowled a little better yesterday. I at least broke 100 both games.
Today I have a few things I want to get done before a pickleball and Rotary this evening.
Well therapy for today.

Thanks for supporting our cancer peer-led discussion Joe! 🙏🏻🩷
