Heartbreaking

Well the football games yesterday were interesting. One was heartbreaking. The MSU Bobcats lost in overtime by one point. Their game with North Dakota State was a nail biter. Sadly their extra point attempt in the first overtime session was blocked and thus the heart break. MSU missed two field goals very early in the game that would have sealed a win for them. Also Butte's Touchdown Tommy Mellot suffered a leg injury late in the game. He is ankles got rolled on when he was tackled after a very short run. Up to that point he had been living up to his moniker and had one hell of a game.

He seems like a very good kid so I hope that the injury is not serious or career ending. He was at a football camp that my nephews attended this summer. I watched him from a distance and he was very approachable and was very nice to the young kids that were adoring him. He also has several commercials on TV and he just seems like a good guy.

The University of Montana game was a blow out win for the Grizzlies. However, the playing conditions for this game were crazy. It was snowing like hell. The early part of the game was hard to watch because of the snow that was falling. You could not really tell where they were on the field.

On top of this we were streaming the game via HULU on my folks satellite internet system. So we had a lot of buffering that was occurring and the picture was pretty grainy. The weather conditions at the ranch were pretty much the same it was snowing and blowing like hell. So satellite reception was not good. We actually ended up just listening to the last quarter of the game on the radio.

It was my nephew Heath's 13 Birthday. So we officially have a teenager in the family. It sounded like he was having a good day when we talked to him yesterday morning. Cindy posted some pictures of him with a friend that had made him a Grizzly themed chocolate cake for their tailgate party and then him with a sign announcing his birthday before the game and before the snow started. We will be interested to talk to him and his Dad today to see how the viewing was from the stands. It looked pretty miserable on the TV.

We also had some company yesterday and of course ate way too much junk food while watching the games. Hopefully today we will be a little better and we eat a little healthier.

It was a heartbreaking day for my Bobcats. Mellot had an awesome game, but those darn injuries keep taking him out (3rd year in a row during the playoffs). Feel bad for the kicker Casey Kautzman (another Butte guy), he had an awful day.

Nice that you can be in Elk Park for an extended time to help out your folks. As always I really enjoy reading your posts. Take care
