Took Dad for his Dr appointment today. He is healthy (good blood pressure, etc). It is just that the old legs will not work. Tomorrow Home Health will be coming out to the house, I guess to evaluate his situation and to help with potential mechanical devices.
After his appointment I took him to the Waterford Assisted living facility to visit some old friends the Taskers. Herb and Bourke Tasker lived in California but they had a summer place in the Nez Perce area in Elk Park. This property has been in Bourke's family for many many years. They have a smaller replica (but still a large building) of the Yellowstone lodge on this property. It was designed by the same architects and built in the same time period. It is quite a building that has some very old and interesting mounts in it. If that building could talk it probably could tell some very interesting stories. Evel Knievel was a good friend of Bourke's Brother (Sandy Keith) and was out there numerous times. I know some rip snorting parties were held out there over the years.
We had a nice visit, and then ran a couple of quick errands and came home. They were very happy to see Dad, and he was happy to see them so that was good.
This evening I worked on some Pickleball stuff (updating the play calendar for the month of December in a app we use) and some Rotary stuff.
My Dad decided to make some Jello this evening (he likes Jello). Jennifer would be chuckling as we put her Snoopy Apron on him while he whipped up his Jello. She had made the Snoopy apron along with a whole bunch of others during Covid. Aprons and Masks were some things she sewed during that time period. She got pretty damn good at it, if I don't say so myself.
Still working on getting the heated mat flattened out. It's coming. Tonight, there was a pile of old snow that is in a shadowed area by the house so I went and grabbed a shovel full and threw on the mat to see if it was indeed working. It melted the majority of the stuff I threw on it. There were a couple of big ice chunks that it had not totally melted but it shrunk them considerably. So I think it is going to work good with fresh snow.
Before going to town I also chatted via Facebook Messenger with a old college friend that has been dealing with his own grief challenges and he shared a interesting TED talk about how we don't move on with grief we move forward with it. The lady (Nora McInerny)doing the talk had lost her husband to brain cancer and she had some interesting and at times humorous insight. I appreciated him sharing it.
Well enough for tonight.
