Half Expected To See Her Today

This morning I went in and played Pickleball. In previous summers we had a routine. I would play Pickleball for a while and Jennifer would walk around Stodden Park for a awhile. Then she would come over to the courts and we would then go get our golf clubs out of the truck and we would go play the Par 3 course.
Today I kept looking outside the courts and half expecting to see her walking up to the courts. Of course that did not happen. Broke my heart. I left Pickleball and went over to the KOA to see Jim and Elaine for a bit. They had walked over to McDonlads for breakfast. This was a activity that Jennifer and Elaine would occasionally do while Jim and I would play Pickleball. Eliane said it was an emotional walk for her also this morning and that her and Jim talked about her on their walk.
Tonight has been a sad day for our country, with the attempted assignation of former President Donald Trump. As I have made abundantly clear I am not a Trump fan. However, today’s violence is totally unacceptable.
I will be honest, I am surprised that something like this had not happened sooner due to his rhetoric and actions. I will admit that my first inclination was that I wished that the attempt had been successful but as I reflected on that I realized that I was being hypocrite and stooping to a level that is not acceptable. One of the talking heads on TV tonight made a comment that did strike me as interesting. He said that only cowards solve political issues with bullets.
I feel we have reached a very critical point in our country’s political process/spectrum. If Trump and his cult (I truly feel that the Republican Party is now a cult). I feel this way because Republican representatives cowtow to him constantly. The list of these cow towers is very long. Some of them are even potential Trump Vice President candidate choice.
Since 2015 the party had numerous occasions to slap down his influence over the party and they buried their heads in the sand and did not do (in my opinion) the morally right things.
I am very afraid as the RNC convention starts Monday that the rhetoric will get just get dialed up by both Trump and the party further and that more political violence will be forthcoming. Minions of both parties are apparently already spouting ridiculous conspiracy theories which just concerns me more that what we will see coming from the convention will only feed the nut jobs to incite more violence.
So as I get ready to hit the hay I go there with a heavy heart.
