Frustration

Yesterday we had arranged for my Mom to get her Covid Booster at Walgreens. Went online filled out all of there forms and booked a time. So we get there and checked in to only be told they are out of shots and won’t have any until this fall. So thanks for nothing Walgreens.

Well we had about a hour and a half to kill before Mom’s teeth cleaning appointment. So I took her for a ride around town and we stopped at the Western Meat Block and picked up some Keilbasa to have on hand.

We drove by the Highland View golf course and there were a bunch of Hardy souls out there, it was pretty windy and a chilly wind. I still get chocked up driving by the Par 3 course. Memories of our rounds there flood my mind as I drive by there. We drove around up town and then took a trip by the cemetery to see Jennifer and we both had a good cry.

Then took mom to her appointment. After her appointment we went to Walmart to get some groceries. I was trying to get and get out, since Mom was waiting in the car. Time for more frustration. One of the items was a 30 pack of beer. Well knowing that a Walmart person would have to confirm I was old enough for the beer, I went to a checkout with a checker instead of self checkout. Well the first lane I went to was closing, so another checker says she is opening on lane 17. Ok so I go over and get all my stuff on the belt. Thankfully I had her scan the beer first. She does and then ask me my Birthdate. I tell her she enters it and it says invalid date. Well she try’s it about 6 more times and it won’t take. Now this lady was obviously not the sharpest tack in the box, so she calls another checker over and she says that checkout is set up for a minor checker who can’t sell liquor. So they have to call over a manager. Well that took forever to find one and he finally comes over and then he and the checker get into a discussion about a new procedure where checkers are going to be assigned specific lanes and some other bullshit. Well I have reached the end of my rope. I tried to be polite, but told them that they could talk about all that stuff after they had gotten me checked out, that I was in a hurry and would appreciate them getting me checked out.

Finally got out of there and swung thru Wendy’s and got some food for a very late lunch (for Mom and I) and early dinner (for Dad and us).

Dad is wanting to get some of the high old grass that is around the buildings burned. Fortunately the Volunteer Fire Department is doing training all this week, so hopefully they will come down and monitor the burning of the grass ( which is why I bought the 30 pack of beer to have for after the burn).

So I went down to the fire hall at 6:00 pm and participated in the training. Unfortunately it was too windy last night to do any burning, so will maybe try again tonight if the weather cooperates. It is supposed to snow tonight/tomorrow.

Well I better get a move on. Need to help Dad with a shower and a few other chores around the house.

Stuff She Is Missing
