Football Saturday

Today was the 122nd Cat vs Griz (Brawl of the Wild) game. Turned out it was not much of a brawl, but rather a good old Butt Kicking by the Grizzlies. Touchdown Tommy had a decent game but he was about the only one and he certainly did not get good support from the Cats defense.
Also Montana Tech was in a NAIA playoff game against Dickenson State. That was a much closer game, but Tech came up on the short end of the stick. Sadly, it hardly got any coverage by the press, they all were focused on the Cat/Griz game.
Beaverhead County (Dillion) won the class "A" state championship in overtime against Columbia Falls. That was probably one of the better football games to be at this Saturday.
The Fighting Irish put a butt whipping on Wake Forest.
I went and sprung my Dad from the Copper Ridge and brought him out to watch and listen (Tech game was on radio) to the games. He was pretty happy about that. So it was a day of foootball, with mixed results.
I made up a interesting soup it was from a Italian cookbook that my Mom had and that she wanted to make. It had farva beans (yes, Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector went thru my head when I was making it), potatoes, pasta, tomato purée, celery, onions, prosciutto in it. FYI we did not have any Chianti wine.
We all stated that Jennifer was looking down on us and saying " Thank God I don't have to do the dishes". I did dirty up a few pots and pans.
My sister Colleen also drove up from Denver today for the Thanksgiving holiday. Thankfully she had good weather and roads for her trip up. I hope it is the same for her trip home, but that is very questionable. They are forecasting that we are going to have some snow storms coming this Thanksgiving week.
Anyway a nice daywith the folks, but I sure wish she could have been here with us.
Last year we watched the Cat/Griz game at a "watch party" hosted by the Bobcat Alumni group. We wore our Mt Tech apparel so it was clear we were completely aligned with either team. We purchased some raffle tickets and Jennifer actually won a blue and gold Cats Hat.
Sadly that weekend was the start of Jennifer's partially detached retina saga. We had gotten home from the game and Jennifer went to put some recycles in our bin in the garage. When she came back into the house she had a bright flash in her eye and she knew something was not right. We ended up making a late night trip to St George to the Emergency Room and then again the following morning to a Opthamoligist and then she got set up with a Surgeon and then had surgery to repair the tear. Unfortunately we ended up spending both Thanksgiving and Christmas at home because she could not travel or make extreme changes in altitude for several months.
Oh well that's the cards we were dealt and we lived through it, but I never would have thought that would be her last Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Well enough reminiscing for today.
