Easter And National Jennifer Day

Apparently, according to a post by someone on Facebook, last Sunday (Easter) was National Jennifer Day. I guess that is somewhat appropriate, since on many years, Easter was on her Birthday.
I believe I have written before that Jennifer did not really like most common shortenings of her name, but she really hated Jenny. She was ok with Jen, but she preferred the whole pronunciation of her name. If you wanted to get on her bad side just call her “Jenny” more than once. She would generally correct people pretty quick and make sure they knew that she was not joking around.
She generally only ran into this in the South. In the North people would generally not shorten her name. Like I said she was polite but blunt about correcting people who called her Jenny.
I was saddened by the death of Pope Frances. He was truly a Pope of the people. It will be interesting to see who is his replacement. I severely doubt it will be a person as humble as he was. I am betting it is going to a much more conservative and probably more divisive person.
I will be honest, I am pretty much fed up with the Catholic Church. If I had my way they would lose their tax exemption. There was/is to much politicking from the Pulpit anymore. I put a fair share of blame on the Catholic church for Trumps re-election. Now don’t get me wrong a priest/nun or anyone in Religious vocations has the right to vote for whomever they want, but when you get on the pulpit and start telling the flock whom to vote for, you have crossed a line. Our forefathers intended church and state to be separate. That is the way it should be. I am so fed up with this White Christian Nationalism movement by some of the most unchristian people in the world.
I will only be stepping foot inside of churches for weddings and funerals, I will not be attending any weekly services.
I find myself becoming more unchristian as this administration moves ahead. I get pissed when I see people who obviously voted for the Orange messiah on TV crying the blues because they are now being impacted by what he and his administration is doing. They got axed and/or their livelihoods are being impacted. Guess what if you put a check by his name, you live with the consequences and I would prefer you suffered in silence. Again, not very Christian of me, but I have had my fill. You were ok with his actions when it was affecting the other folks in the world, but now you are not because it is affecting you. Guess what? I am not going to cry you a river.
He and the jellyfish party telegraphed exactly what is happening through Project 2025. If people had only taken a few minutes just to peruse it, they might have had their eyes opened. Instead they just tuned into Fox News and sucked down the Kool-Aid and unfortunately many are still slurping it down.
I have been delinquent in writing much lately. I have not really had the desire to write lately. It is certainly not because of missing Jennifer. I truly miss her more everyday. I can tell you, she would not be happy with how this world is progressing and would be very stressed about it.
I had been sleeping a little better, but the last week I have fallen back into waking up and not being able to go back to sleep, because of my mind racing.
I do have a fair bit of survivors guilt and it is really bad after holidays or events that I know she would have truly loved to be doing. I had a very nice weekend with the Benner family for Easter. Jennifer would have so much enjoyed the weekend. Driving home, I thought about how much she would have enjoyed it and shed a tear or two on the way home.
This week will be busy with Rotary stuff. We have our Storywalk event this coming Saturday. I spent part of last night putting the story boards together. So that part is done. Hopefully it will be a good event. This year we chose a book that is in both English and Spanish, so hopefully that goes over well. I will be honest, in todays political climate it can be scary to try and be inclusive. I will be honest El Salvador has not been a place high on my list of places to go and visit. However our new dictator apparently wants that the place to send anyone who disagrees with him. So maybe I will get sent to re-education camp there.
Well enough for today.
