We made it to Butte America. Thankfully the trip was smooth and uneventful.

It was nice to finally see my parents. Going to be busy couple of days as we work on the final preparations for Jennifer's service.

Thankfully the weather forecast for Saturday has been improving the last couple of days and I am praying the good Lord will give us a decent day for the ceremony. Jennifer would be some kind of pissed if we had to slug through snow drifts to get her planted.

Jennifer was not extremely fond of winter. She did not mind being in snow for a few days to a week but that was pretty much her limit.

We did not get to come home for Christmas in 2022 because of eye surgery that she had that prevented us from traveling so we did not get a big dose of snow that year.

In 2021 we were home for Christmas and she did something that really was out of character for her and really surprised me. Looking back now I am really glad she did this.

Out of the blue one morning she decided she wanted to take a sleigh ride down the bank that's by my parents house. She didn't really announce she was wanting to do this, she just went down to the barn and she got one of the old plastic sleds out and she drug it up by the house and she made a couple of runs down the bank. She giggled like a little girl as she was doing it and she was panting pretty heavy as she climbed back up the bank to take another run at it. I was able to catch a photo as she was about to make her first run. She made two runs and then she had her fill, but I think those two runs brought her some big happiness. So I am thankful she had those happy moments. Little did we know that would be her last truly white Christmas.

My dad was always bewildered by her going out and walking around the yard in the cold weather, but she was determined to get her steps in for the day. So she would bundle up and go out and walk around and around my folks yard until she got her 10,000 steps in. Her little nose would be all red and cold, but she would be happy that she got the steps in.

Anyway, I just hope the weather forecasters have it right and Saturday is at least decent, that would make her happy. We will survive if they don't but it sure would be nice if the weather held off until she is in the ground.
