Busy Day

Well I got Dad out early and we made it to the Butte Emergency Food Bank so I could make our annual donation. I had tried a couple of times earlier but they were closed. I wanted to get it donated before the end of the month because of the Town Pump Corporation was matching donations during the months of September - November.

We then stopped at Town Talk Bakery and got a couple of dozen donuts. One to take to the Dentist office and one for the house. Jennifer would have been bogarting the maple bars that are in the dozen we brought home.

Got Dad's broken tooth fixed and then we ran a couple of errand's and I took Dad by the cemetery to see Jennifer for a few minutes. The we went to Dad's Rotary meeting. They had a very good speaker, Steve Walsh who is retired from Montana Resources who gave a good presentation on the history of mining in Butte. Steve has a extensive collection of photos that show how the landscape of Butte has changed from the start of mining until now and how the future mining will continue to change that landscape. The amount of minerals taken from "The Richest Hill On Earth" is staggering. Was a very interesting talk.

Then we delivered a couple of gift baskets to a couple of neighbors in the Park. We still have several more to deliver, but at least we got started.

Then we got home and had some neighbors stop in and a friend who came to install some heat tracing in the gutters on the North Side of the house, that will hopefully also help eliminate ice build up on the roof .

Mom had prepped and cooked up a tasty brisket while we were out and about. So we had a tasty dinner.

Tonight after midnight we are supposed to be able to see the Northern Lights because of a big geomagnetic storm. Unfortunately it's pretty overcast tonight so we will have to see how that plays out. Go figure the last several nights have been crystal clear so the night where something interesting is supposed to happen. I guess I am probably keeping Jennifer's and my streak with galactic phenomena alive.

So all in all a busy day.
