Busy As A One Legged Man In A Ass Kicking Contest

I have been pretty busy with a variety of activities/events and I have not had a lot of time to write.
I am still baffled on how some little/ridiculous things will trigger emotions. Today I was mixing up a packet of flavored drink mix in a glass of water. I had gotten the mix from the recent Pickleball tournament I played in. So I poured the mix into my glass and I remembered that Jennifer had found some longer teaspoons that are great for mixing a tall glass of fluid. She had gotten them to sweeten her ice tea. Anyway I dug one of those out and for whatever reason I had a flood of memories hit me and I started tearing up. It was a damn spoon, why did that trigger me? I don’t know why, but it sure got me choked up for a bit.
Like I mentioned I played in a Pickleball Tournament this past weekend. It was a nice tournament and ran very smoothly. There were like 180+ people playing in the tournament. On Saturday I played in the mixed doubles with my friend Dorothy. We just missed the podium, we got 4th as we lost the bronze medal match in our bracket. Then on Sunday I played in the men’s Doubles with Dorothy’s husband Andy. I was joking that I got me a side hustle of being a marriage consultant and keeping folks married. Dorothy does not like playing in competitions with Andy. Andy and I got on the podium with a bronze medal. The funny thing was one of the guys on the other team was on the team that beat Dorothy and me for the bronze. So we split for the weekend. Anyway, we had a good time playing.
After the Saturday Pickleball, I hustled down to watch the Rubber duck races at the Casa Blanca casino. They were racing the ducks to raise money for the Women Warriors Cancer support group that some friends of my co-founded. I had six ducks in the race, but my ducks were not in the winning groups. However, I did know a couple of folks (fellow Rotarians) who did have their ducks in the final heat and one of them actually had the second place duck, which paid out $600.
I watched some football over the weekend. I was able to watch the Butte Central - Dillion game and Griz football game on Friday night. They were racing Maroons pulled out the victory and are heading to the playoffs for the first time since 2019. It was a pretty exciting game, the Maroons got some very lucky bounces. The Griz game was also exciting and they also pulled off the victory.
Saturday after the duck races I came home and sat out on my patio with an adult beverage and watched the Bobcat game. The Cats were beating the CalPoly team up and down the field, but were struggling to score points. Well they finally got in gear and ended up winning as well. Also Tech had a big win on Saturday. So all in all it was a good weekend for Montana teams.
Sunday after the Pickleball, I had to run home and put together a tray of Honey Ham and Swiss Cheese sliders for our fall Bocce Potluck dinner, yesterday evening. It was a nice outing with lots of good food and the we went and played some Bocce. So it was a fun evening.
This week my Rotary club is putting together a haunted house at the Eureka Casino as part of their annual Shreekreeka event. So tomorrow I will be skipping Bocce to go help in putting that together. We also have our Rotary District governor coming for a visit to our club this week.
So never a dull moment and I have been staying as busy as a one legged man in a ass kicking contest.
