Yesterday I made a trip down to Vegas to see our niece Lilly perform in a musical called Beetlejuice Jr. She continues to amaze all of us with her acting chops. She has always been a theatrical kid but she broke out last year with her performance as young Cossette in Les Miserables and continued that this year as the character Juno (Beetlejuice’s mom) in this production.
It was a nice performance, the kids did a wonderful job. While this was a much smaller production than Les Miserables was, it still was very good. The play was held in a cozy little venue in downtown Summerlin. Jennifer and Lilly’s great grandma Rose would have loved it and I know they were watching from heaven. The only complaint Uncle Joe had was the seating (plastic folding chairs). My ass was killing me when the production was over. The show was about a hour and fifteen minutes long with no real breaks. We really could have used a 2-5 minute break to stand up and stretch.
The kids did a great job. The young man who played Beetlejuice did a great job. Until Lilly’s character showed up, which was later in the play she was part of the ensemble. When Juno made her appearance it was a “Wow is that Lilly moment”! She really did a good job in changing her voice to sound like a much older person.
Below are photos of Lilly as Juno, with her proud grandparents and parents

After the show we went to a nice Italian restaurant to celebrate Lilly’s uncle Billy’s birthday. It was a very nice dinner and evening.
I am glad I got to see it.
