Another Trip Around The Sun

Today I completed another trip around the Sun. I had a nice lunch with Elaine and Jim, Jeanne and Rob, Mom and Dad, and sister Colleen. We went to the Back 9 restaurant at the Highland View Golf Course. It is a nice venue with some nice views and good food.

Last night I went to my sister-in-law Pat’s house and got to see our niece Hannah, her husband Cody and their daughter Alice. They are in the process of moving from Ann Harbor, Michigan to Portland, Oregon. It was nice seeing them. Alice has grown and is a pistol. They are also expecting another Baby in December, so that was exciting news. Unfortunately their stay was very short and they had to get on the road towards Portland last evening as their shipment of household goods was getting delivered quicker than they expected. However it was so nice to see them.

I was able to finally give Hannah some of Jennifer’s jewelry. There were some pieces that Jennifer had indicated she wanted her to have and the. I supplemented that with other pieces she did not have a chance to say who she wanted to have them. So hopefully I picked well.

Hannah is going to be a gynecological Oncologist in Portland, so it is a exciting time for her as she finally gets to start making some real dollars and putting all her years of education to work. Both her Dad and Aunt Jennifer would be so proud of the young Lady she has become.

I had a flashback to a Christmas down in Houston that we spent with Dave and Pat. What triggered this flashback was when Alice was looking for a hula-hoop that the kids were playing with. When were down visiting Hannah was a young girl probably about 7-8 years old. Jim, Elaine and Ryan had come down to Houston to also visit while we were there. Anyway Hannah was showing us her Hula Hoop skills and she challenged Ryan to a hula hoop contest and she was talking some trash to get him to do it. She told Ryan “What are you afraid of a little girl!” Of course the rest of us burst out laughing and we have retold that story many times. Jennifer thought that was hysterical. So when Alice was looking for that Hula-hoop that memory flashed thru my head. Alice has a lot of both her parents in her and has their blue eyes, but she was acting a lot like her Mom yesterday.

I just so wish Jennifer could have been there, she would have loved it! I could hear her laughing in my head.

Oh well life goes on. On to the next trip around the Sun!
