This morning we have a nice cool morning in Mesquite. I am up at the Pickleball courts waiting for folks to show up and I started reflecting on the fall season that appears to be here finally.
Fall was probably Jennifer's favorite season, at least in the latter years of her life. She really loved the falls when we lived in Pennsylvania.
She loved the color changes in the foliage and the cool but not cold mornings and of course College football. Also that is when pumpkin spice would start to show up. She liked pumpkin spice. There were several restraunts that would have pumpkin spice pancakes. She really liked those.
When we were in PA she loved to go on drives around the country side to see the trees and the pumpkin patches, corn mazes, etc that were sprinkled around the areas. Normally she was not a fan of driving around like that but she liked it up there.
The townhouse we had in PA had a nice little deck and she enjoyed sitting there in the morning and drinking her tea (she had not started drinking coffee yet) and looking at all of the colors. Those eastern states do have such a variety of trees and the colors when they changed is beautiful.
Pumpkin pie was Jennifer's favorite pie. She did not like the crust but she loved the filling.
Well I had to take a little break, before finishing this post. People showed up,to,play. Jennifer would have loved this morning. It was cool, but not cold and she would have been sitting on our patio with her coffee and I-pad reading her papers and listening/ watching College Game Day. Hopefully she is doing that in heaven and putting in a good word with the Lord to smile on the Fighting Irish today as they battle Ohio State.
Jennifer did not start drinking coffee until after we were retired. She had read that it helped with gallbladder issues, so she started trying it and like pretty much the rest of the world she got hooked on it. Both of us liked a little sweet Italian creamer in it. I can drink it straight black if I have to. Jennifer was trying to get to that point but had not gotten there. It was just a little to bitter for her.
I’m with Jen—Fall is my favorite season & I love when the leaves change color and pumpkin pie is my favorite as well. Going on a fall foliage trip with my mom next weekend to the New England states. 🍂🍁🍂 will think of Jen as you will be in Butte for her memorial service.
