Football Camp

Yesterday I took Mom in to town watch Case participate in the Colt Anderson “Dream Big” football camp.

The camp was held at Butte Highs Naranche Stadium. The transformation of that stadium from when I was a kid is phenomenal. When I was a kid they used to hold the grade school track meet there. It was a dirt field and was pretty much a dump. The field had broken glass and small rocks all over it. Of course they were just building a new stadium and rubberized track at East Junior High during that time period and then we went there for meets (I think that was my 5th grade year). Naranche now has a astroturf field and is a very nice venue. The kids that attended the camp seemed to have a good time. Case got all kinds of autographs on his hat from the coaches (Many are former/current NFL and/or College Players). So he was happy.

I think Mom enjoyed sitting and watching the kids. It was probably the longest she has been outside in quite a while. Fortunately the rain stayed away until after the camp was over. After the camp, Case, Cindy, Mom and I went to lunch and had a nice visit. Case and Cindy then hit the road back to East Helena to finish getting ready to head camping and fishing at Canyon Ferry Lake.

It has been one year since we got the handicapped van for the folks, it popped up on my Facebook page as a memory. That was a very good investment that allowed both Dad and Mom to get out a little bit more and certainly helped yesterday.

One disadvantage of Naranche stadium is the parking or lack there of. It is up on the hill in Butte, but fortunately Case was in the second group of kids so some parking on Main Street got freed up once the little kids got done and we got a spot where we could deploy the ramp and Mom did not have to walk far to see the field.

It is a good thing the camp was yesterday, today is kind of a gray dreary and damp day. We might even get some snow in the next day or two.

So far the dog sitting is going Ok, Lola is still grieving but she gets a little more like her old self each day. I have taken her for a couple of runs up un the field (I ride the four wheeler and she runs). I add that in case you were thinking that no wonder it is going to snow if the old fat boy is out running.

Anyway, I am glad we were able to take Mom yesterday, she truly enjoys getting to see the boys doing their activities. Hopefully I will get to take her to one of Heath’s soccer games before I head back to Mesquite.

Well I better get doing something productive.
